Build 61. Rear Lights

The new LED lights are very easy to fit and only require minor drilling and changes to the rear wings. They secure by using the 5.5mm hex bolt from the inside as shown in the first picture. They require you to drill out an 8mm hole in the rear wing as there are only two pilot holes drilled by the factory so these need to be made bigger. I chose to make them bigger slowly by first using a 6mm drill, then sizing up to an 8mm. I also found these were not exactly in the right place so one hole had to be made wider slightly to one side. Also when drilling, make sure to use the drill flat (level with the horizon/spirit level) as the bolts will be screwed in like this too.

Once the holes were drilled, it was a case of simply securing the light to the wing using the bolts, ensuring the large rubber plate was between the wing and light. I then also attached two p clips to the rear wing bolts so I could cable tie the cables nice and neat.

It is worth noting that to pass the IVA, once you have fitted the lights, you also need to silicone the larger hole with the wire in it to seal the unit fully from the weather. I didn't realise this and after the PBC I noticed that they had filled hole with a nice black silicone.
